But the really long movie version of Pride and Prejudice is really great. In a lot of parts it follows the book word for word.Sara Mariahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02710865646151460433noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005861697438274250.post-35414183909619184992010-02-22T18:25:22.815-06:002010-02-22T18:25:22.815-06:00Pride and Prejudice is amazing, but Emma is DEFINE...Pride and Prejudice is amazing, but Emma is DEFINETLY my favorite- both the book and the movie. Its amazing that even in books that weren't written by Christians, God's story is so undeniably evident and beautiful.Audreyhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08990296450449193032noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005861697438274250.post-70280674572582401322010-02-22T11:40:34.726-06:002010-02-22T11:40:34.726-06:00I agree with JG - the 2005 version of P&P with...I agree with JG - the 2005 version of P&P with Knightly is not great, but the 1995 version with Firth is very good. P&P is has been my favorite of all Austen's novels for ages. Definitely a good idea to read the book before watching the movie. The movies can't include everything in the text, and the movie can sometimes clarify something you missed or didn't understand in the book. I agree with JG - the A&E version is fantastic (I even bought the DVD set) while the Hollywood version - not so much:-> I also read a pile of Jane Austen books a couple years ago, followed by . . . I've started watching Masterpiece Theater, and they are going through Jane Austen's novels, so it motivated me :) I've read Pride and Prejudice and Emma. Which version of P&P did you see? I don't care for the Kiera Knightley version, it's pretty shallow. But the A&E version with Colin Firth is excellent.JGhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03116405895683599572noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005861697438274250.post-17249267410979335622010-02-21T22:01:34.419-06:002010-02-21T22:01:34.419-06:00I love to read the classics! I am a fan of many Christian novels and modern novels but, to me, there is a certain kind of satisfaction that only reading the classics will bring. Especially Jane Austen! I am in the process of reading her books as well! Another one you might try would be North & South by Elizabeth Gaskell. It is very similar to a Jane Austen novel.
