We have never even thought of adoption. 5 months ago I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl with down's syndrome. Now all I do is think about adopting(a baby with down's of course!) I would say " you won't believe this" but I know you will: the other night I was watching the super bowl and noticed drew brees son looked like he has downs so I googled to that effect and found your blog. I proceeded to put a link to your blog on my Iphone because I enjoyed what I read and appreciated the fact that you had adopted a downs baby. Now stay with me here, it gets a little confusing(I'm still not quite sure what happenned). I was laying in bed setting my alarm on my I phone and I guess I had finished setting it but I dozed off. When I woke up and looked at my phone to make sure it was set I saw reece's rainbow on my screen. So while I was sleeping I "found" this information that I hadn't even yet tried to find!!! With all that being said-do you have any words of wisdom and/or pointers to get me started on my adoption journey? I'm so excited I can't hardly stand it! Thanks for your help!

TaraAnonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005861697438274250.post-65168902907957493742010-02-08T23:59:12.094-06:002010-02-08T23:59:12.094-06:00Thank you so much, Melanie! I agree with everything you said and I am so grateful that your family has chosen to help raise funds this month for the girls my family is hoping to adopt! Catholics are criticized all the time for being a "works based" religion. It's not true. We know that our works could never earn us a ticket to heaven. We know that only the blood of Jesus makes it possible. But we also know that if your faith is genuine, you will naturally want to pour out that love on others. I don't have the answers. I don't know how on earth it can be BOTH, but I know that it can because I serve a mighty and mysterious God. Catholics have a very annoying little habit of answering unanswerable questions with "It's a mystery." But sometimes, that's the only answer there is!Over-Caffeinatedhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02658566615469274477noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005861697438274250.post-19483308768041203742010-02-04T17:00:27.208-06:002010-02-04T17:00:27.208-06:00You are not losing me with a post like that! I say...You are not losing me with a post like that! I say, "AMEN!" We are standing out to our family, friends, and coworkers right now because we have 4 kids at home and are very middle class! We are trying to raise $30 K + to bring home 1 or 2 Special needs children from the Ukraine. I like standing out and being "different" and being so bold that I would ask my fellow man for donations and prayers! Love your posts! Gods blessings to you!Envyshopehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05145918060785765654noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005861697438274250.post-58943181785460595012010-02-04T14:13:31.860-06:002010-02-04T14:13:31.860-06:00Melanie, Yes, I enjoyed your blog better before yo...Melanie, Yes, I enjoyed your blog better before you started preaching works. I loved how you inspired me with your love and faith in God's grace and mercy, His might and grandeur, and how His presence in your life motivated you to show forth His love to others.
You and your family are truly amazing. Yes, the devils believe and tremble, but their belief does not motivate them to invite Jesus into their lives and hearts, yearning for life eternal in His presence. Yes, we must follow the voice of our Lord, but He does not tell all of us the same things as He did the children of Israel. If our conversion is truly genuine then we will show who we are in Him through the fruit we bear. We will not all bear the same fruit, just as each species of tree bears different fruit. We can each quote scripture to prove what we believe but that is fruitless. We do not have to agree on what "faith without works" means. I might remind you of Mary and Martha. Martha was busy serving and was angry with Mary because she sought only the presence of the Lord. But Jesus never pitted one against the other. Both served the Lord. I shall not quit frequenting your blog over differences of opinion for I look forward to continuing your journey with you. Just be careful lest you judge another because they are not doing as much as you are, or the same things you are. God alone knows the walk of each of us and our hearts and what He requires of us, depending on what talents and abilities and resources He has given to each of us. May God continue to bless you bountifully. You are a beautiful Christian woman with a wonderful family. Your devotion to serving is indeed admirable.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-9005861697438274250.post-84547309537643590852010-02-04T09:42:55.531-06:002010-02-04T09:42:55.531-06:00Yay! I became "receptive" to christ...How true! I became "receptive" to christianity just a few years ago, by being a witness to several Christians "standing out" in their lifestyle -in actions as well as words. (Many of them I met through Reece's Rainbow.) Once I was receptive, God could work in me and change me... Before I wasn't ready or willing for it. Had I not met people whose faith made them stand out in their actions and decisions, I wouldn't be a Christian today...

Just a quick question, I was under the impression that the funds available to RR kids could only be used by the families in the later stages of the adoption. If this family needs the funds to be able to commit, will donating to V&L help them be able to do this?
(More than willing to donate, just making sure I do it in the most helpful way to the family.)

Best,
Anna (who is not a follower, but reads daily.)Tilly Cat & Pip-Squeakhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13725763433315083575noreply@blogger.com
