Oaks of Righteousness

2012 will go down as one of the most difficult years in the Hollis family, second only to the year of Hopey's birth when she endured two very risky open heart surgeries.   I could go through the list, but you wouldn't believe it.  I still cannot wrap my mind around it all.

When fires come and ravage forests, it is sometimes a very good thing.  Oddly enough, the proliferation of some species of trees depends on fire. And without it, our forests would never be a thriving haven for wildlife.  This year, God allowed our family to go through the fire....but the inferno has left behind a grand opportunity for re-birth.

In the midst of the unforgettable year, Lydia and I wrote and recorded 7 original songs....what I cling to as "beauty from ashes".  One of our songs is about our incredible love for Hopey while another is about Caleb and his unique journey of choosing freedom in the face of adversity.  You can listen to 3 of the 7 songs by clicking here:

Lydia's Songs:

I look forward to seeing all of the new little seedlings of life sprouting up from our ravaged family forest....that is what life is all about after all.

"They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendor"
