Thanksgiving Miracle

Here is Lydia's interview.....she did GREAT!!

We want to thank all 300+ individuals who have participated in the "Darya Project". From Mr. Tim's Candy Canes to all those who brought their cars through the car wash.....from Ondrea's photo shoot to all those who purchased the bake sale goodies.....from the Poppy Dip Dress sale to Stephanie's dirt and lace design donation....from the 147 million orphan tshirt contribution to the free haircuts offered by Angie at Great Clips.....from almost every state in our great country....from several who are serving in our armed forces.....and from four countries abroad.....each of you are a part of this Thanksgiving Miracle.

Donations have still been coming in this morning, so Mr. Tim, the Candy Cane Maker, wants to contribute his handmade candy canes to be put in your yard to commemorate Darya's Thanksgiving Miracle for the next 10 donations of $25.00 or more who live in our area (They are too big and too heavy to ship--sorry). You can pick them up at our house.

We have already raised money for Darya, and now, all additional gifts will go to the Hook family for their adoption of a child with Down Syndrome through Reece's Rainbow. Just like the fishes and the loaves, God multiplies, and His arms are far reaching beyond our comprehension. I believe in His excitement in seeing all of the generous giving, God was anxious to provide for another family's adoption too. Through you.

So today, in an orphanage far away, a little girl with big brown eyes who is never spoken to....never held....will get a visitor. The visitor will walk to the lonely crib that is tucked in a corner and say: "Darya, your family is coming to get you real soon."

Praise God from whom ALL blessings flow!!!

Praise the Lord! We are all witnesses to the fact that Lydia just moved a mountain with her faith. As Jason said, "Not only did she tell it where to go, she told it when." Thank you for your testimony and your love.

  17. This is Amazing and has really built my faith. We have hit roadblock after roadblock with our adoption (RR) and my faith has been tested through it. Lately I've been praying God would restore my faith and your story has really helped in that. Praise God!

  20. I can't wait to see Darya in your family!!! It is amazing to see what the faith of a child can do. Over the process of our family's adoption, we experienced that God can move mountains through faith of a child. My daughter prayed that we would reiceve multiple children (OUR plan was one healthy infant :) and that they would be home by Christmas 2 years ago (this would be 6 months from paperwork to travel-and it normally takes 10-12 months to complete the process from Ethiopia). From getting paperwork back from the government in three days instead of two months to seeing orphanage directors opening their eyes and allowing special needs children to recieve families. I am happy to say we arrived home with our FOUR new children the day before Christmas Eve that year.

When Lydia posted on Nov 17, her post reminded me of my daughter's prayers for multiple siblings :). "I asked my mom if I raised $20,000 could we go get Darya ourselves and be her family. My mom said yes, if I raised that much money she would know if was from God, but she said she didn't think I could do it because that is a whole lot of money. I told her I was going to try my best and nothing is impossible with God. Then she said if I raise $20,000 we could even adopt two kids from Reece's Rainbow..."

When a child of God believes that God will accomplish something, it will happen!

  21. Hi Melanie, I heard about Lydia's project through a comment on Kelly's Korner, and I have been so encouraged by God's miracle! My husband and I are missionaries in Kiev, Ukraine. I'm not sure where Darya is, but if she's in the vicinity of Kiev and if you come before June (which is when we leave for the summer--I know it's soon), we would love to offer you a place to stay when you pick her up.

  26. I stumbled upon your blog, yet I don't believe in coincidences...just God-incidences! I watched the Discovery Health show about Kennedy and Kellsey. Their blog had a link to yours.

I must be honest, I have been sitting here crying while reading about your miracle. Can Lydia give me any fundraising ideas? My husband and I have considered adopting a little guy with special needs from Russia but the money (or lack thereof) is stopping us dead in our tracks!

Thank you for putting your story out there for all to see, it will benefit and give hope to many.

  27. Lydia,
I really like the verse (Proverbs 24:12) you quote in your interview. What translation did you use? I have looked and I can't find it just as you said it and I think the translation you used makes it so clear.
